Jennie TOY

CONGRATULATIONS to Jennie Weatherly!!  Jennie was named Teacher of the Year for our region of the state. She received this award in Columbia last week while meeting with First Steps 4K teachers from around the state. We are so proud of Jennie, this accomplishment and the program that is provided to our 4K students at First United Methodist Children’s Center! Pictured with Jennie are Kristine Jenkins, 4K coordinator and Martha Strickland, 4K State Director.

The summer has ended and preschool classes will begin in September for our younger students.  Generous donors have supplied the funds to purchase Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Twos.  We are excited to be able to provide developmentally appropriate educational activities for all of our children on a daily basis.

Many thanks for the support and prayers for our program!

Wishing Each of You Well,

Debbie Polston, Children’s Center Director

FUMC Children's center

The kids (and adults) of the FUMC Children’s Center continue to stay very busy.  Everyone is very excited that spring is here, and time can be spent outside.

We were so excited to come in last Monday morning to find that someone left a big box of cups for us!  Donations of items such as cups, paper towels, paper plates, and snacks are greatly appreciated and help us provide for the children.  Many thanks to those of you who continuously support our center.

We continue to register children for our 4K program.  Children must be 4 years old on or before August 31, 2017, to enroll.  Copies of application packets can be picked up at any time from the FUMC Children’s Center.

Blessings,

Debbie Polston, FUMC Children’s Center Director

child-valentine

Greetings,

As we begin the month of February, there are many things that the children have found that they love.  When exploring the letter I, ice cream was loved by everyone.  Reading books, singing, dancing, playing musical chairs, books, toys, playtime and friends also make that list.

We look forward to discovering many new things that we love in the future!

Love and Blessings,

Debbie Polston, Director of Early Childhood Development

FUMC Children’s Center News-Dec. 2016

This past month has been a busy and fun time for us all.  The three- and four-year olds walked to the Council on Aging to sing fall songs and Trick-or-Treat.  Miss Lea from Fowler Pharmacy came over and brought candy too.  While walking back to the church, we stopped by the Civic Center, the Police department, and Carolina Bank where there were more treats for our bags.

We also enjoyed days filled with books, bubbles, stroller rides, snacks, play, and good friends.

Thanks for the love and support for this program and our children.  God bless you all!

Debbie Polston, Early Childhood Director

FUMC Children’s Center News – Nov. 2016

Each day, we look forward to opportunities to provide our children with activities that will help them grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, and academically.  There are daily routines and activities that take place to ensure that each of our kids are in fact working in ways needed to strengthen and grow.  We are so excited to have the help of our local public library to assist in this mission.  The toddlers, twos and threes are visited several times each month by staff members of the Marian Wright Edelman Public Library.  The book mobile is available for children to access and check out materials.  Our friends from the library bring in books for everyone to explore and enjoy, as well as, providing a program that includes story time and activities.

Thanks for your support of the Marian Wright Public Library as well as your continued support of our Children’s Center.
